North University of China

North University of China (NUC) was founded in 1941, formerly known as Taihang Industrial School, Taiyuan Institute of Machinery, North China Institute of Technology, and had the present name since June 2004. 

NUC has its main campus in Taiyuan, a historic city of over 2,500 years old, and a branch campus in Shuozhou, Shanxi Province, occupying an overall area of 166.7 hectares.  

NUC is a multi-disciplinary university devoting to teaching and scientific research in engineering, science, liberal arts, economics, management, law, art and education.  

NUC consists of 16 schools and colleges, and is authorized by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council to offer 23 PhD programs, 63 Master programs and 78 Bachelor programs. 2333 staff members are working at NUC, 6 of which are academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. Full time students enrollment stands at over 30 000, including 3 000 PhD and Master Candidates. NUC graduates are highly acclaimed by both employers and society at large.  

NUC houses State, Provincial, or Ministerial key laboratories, bases, research centers, and NUC National University Science Park.  Ever since 2006, NUC has been undertaking over 3000 research projects from the state or enterprises, and the fund for scientific research and technological development has reached 2 billion Yuan RMB. NUC has achieved tremendous accomplishments in a great number of research projects, some of which have won high-level awards, including 5 Second Prizes of National Award for Science & Technology and 92 Provincial Awards for Science & Technology.
